An Avionics Technician is a specialized professional within the aviation maintenance field responsible for inspecting, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing the electronic systems that support an aircraft’s operation, communication, navigation, and flight control. These systems include radar, GPS, autopilot, flight data recorders, weather radar, communication radios, transponders, and electronic flight instrument displays.
Primary Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair avionics components using test equipment and schematic diagrams. Diagnose Avionics malfunction down to the components level using equipment and schematic design.
- Install and calibrate communication, navigation, and flight control systems.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturer specifications.
- Perform software updates and configuration management on digital systems.
- Collaborate with airframe and powerplant (A&P) technicians to integrate avionics with other aircraft systems.
- Document maintenance actions, test results, and part replacements in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of current avionics technologies and safety procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of electronics, circuit theory, and digital systems.
- Proficiency in using avionics testing instruments (e.g. Bonding and mega meters, multimeters).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Attention to detail and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. FAA certification preferred (Repairman Certificate or Airframe/Powerplant License with avionics specialization).

- High School Diploma or GED/Educational Equivalent
- FAA A&P License
- Valid US Drivers License
- Computer literacy
- Must pass a background check and drug screen upon contingent job offer
- An eagerness to learn and willingness to train
- The ability to access elevated aircraft areas via ladders, lift trucks, boom lifts and other devices
- The strength to lift 50 pounds, physical flexibility and the ability to work in confined spaces
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
The starting rate for this role is $38.77.
This is also a bonus eligible position (i.e. profit sharing).
