Mobile Avionics Technician - Idaho Falls, ID Position OverviewIn this role, you will serve as the primary avionics expert supporting the Mobile Service Technician (MST) team, performing advanced troubleshooting, repair, and testing of avionics and aircraft electrical systems at remote customer locations. You will act as the main point of contact for all avionics‑related needs in the field, ensuring accurate work scope reviews, effective communication, and a high level of customer satisfaction.
This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership in the field, and the ability to operate independently while supporting Aircraft‑On‑Ground (AOG) events. You will also assist in maintaining the mobile service vehicle and equipment to ensure the team remains mission‑ready at all times.
Key ResponsibilitiesAvionics Testing & Troubleshooting- Plan and perform functional testing, troubleshooting, repair, alignment, calibration, and modification of avionics and aircraft electrical systems in accordance with FAA regulations and approved procedures.
- Utilize in‑flight reports, test data, and customer feedback to determine root cause and corrective actions.
System Repair & Final Aircraft Release- Interpret and work from Cessna, Beechcraft, and Hawker schematics, blueprints, service bulletins, and vendor documentation.
- Resolve system discrepancies, perform final operational checks, and complete accurate aircraft logbook entries and return‑to‑service documentation.
Technical Leadership & Crew Support- Lead and guide Avionics Technicians through complex troubleshooting activities to isolate faulty components or wiring discrepancies.
- Provide technical direction and oversight to lower‑classification employees performing testing, repairs, and system verifications.
Required Skills & Experience- Advanced avionics troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance experience
- Strong working knowledge of aircraft avionics systems
- Experience with Cessna, Beechcraft, and/or Hawker aircraft preferred
- Ability to work independently in remote, fast‑paced AOG environments
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
Additional Qualifications- A&P License preferred
- Minimum 5 years of avionics troubleshooting and repair experience
- Preferred: 1–2 years of experience on Cessna, Beechcraft, or Hawker aircraft
- Must meet FAA safety‑sensitive position requirements
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to submit to an MVR check
Work Location & Travel- Mobile Service Team vehicle based in Idaho Falls, ID
- Travel throughout Eastern Idaho, Southern Montana, and Western Wyoming
- On‑call position supporting AOG events
- Travel duration typically 1–3 days, with occasional trips lasting 1–2 weeks

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
