Job Description:
The Assembly Grind Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes within the Manufacturing Engineering Organization. In this role you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve technical problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, mentor and coach global teams, communicate regularly and effectively to leadership, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. The role focuses on supporting Assembly Grind processes for GE Areospace development, production, and overhaul engine assembly facilities around the world through best practice development and leveraging.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Solid understanding CNC programing and how they are integrated with PC user interfaces
  • Familiar with grind tooling design and best practices
  • Understanding of all machine components and have the ability to trouble shoot grind machines, lasers and touch probe systems
  • Knowledge of grind wheel specifications (types and applications), diamond dresser specifications and coolant applications
  • Familiar with how engine hardware is fixtured, chucked or otherwise restrained for grind processes
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Act as a mentor to global engine assembly grind teams. Provide technical leadership and a consulting resource to supporting personnel, colleagues, and customers
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Be the technical liaison to equipment manufacturers providing technical specifications and assuring on-time machine/equipment delivery
  • Some domestic and international travel required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Solid understanding of CNC programing and how it is integrated with PC user interfaces). + Minimum of 3 years of Solid understanding CNC programing and how it is integrated with PC user interfaces.
