JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the IT Infrastructure Support Manager, the DevOps Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the network infrastructure with a strong focus on automation. This role involves evaluating, deploying, and maintaining automation platforms, standardizing the network environment, and providing training and escalation support to the network team. The candidate will be part of the infrastructure team that ensures scalable, maintainable, and highly available network architectures that meet business uptime requirements. On-call time and travel will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field (direct IT experience may be substituted year for year)
- Certifications in Cisco, Azure, AWS, and VMware preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting a multi-node, multi-site IP network
- Extensive knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools
- Experience with Windows Server, SonicWALL, and/or Fortinet preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA and SOX compliance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Network Design and Maintenance:
- Configure, maintain, and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, and virtual appliances hosted on the private or public cloud)
- Administer VMware vSphere, Cisco Catalyst, and Nexus
- Administer SonicWALL and Fortinet firewall
- Administer client VPN solution
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Design, implement, and test disaster recovery solutions
- Automation and Standardization:
- Evaluate, deploy, and maintain automation platforms to streamline network operations
- Leverage automation tools to standardize network configurations and processes
- Develop and implement scripts and tools to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline network operations and reduce manual intervention
- Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for network infrastructure
- Collaborate with software developers to integrate network automation into the overall DevOps workflow
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network automation scripts and tools
- Training and Support:
- Provide Level-3 support and troubleshooting to resolve network issues
- Train and mentor network team members
- Serve as an escalation point for complex network issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for network automation
- Experience with network automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Understanding of APIs and how to script against them for network devices
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize by levels of importance and urgency
- Capable of troubleshooting and problem-solving IT-related issues
- Must maintain up-to-date knowledge of IT best practices
- Able to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (M365) Suite
- Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, adhering to company drivers’ policy
