The MUOS Lab & Deployment Tech will act as a leader and mentor to new technicians in the support of engineering activities such as designing, testing, checking out, modifying, fabricating, and assembling prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, or specialized test equipment
Responsibilities:
- Interprets complex engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics, and understands the necessary interfaces
- Performs complex system-level troubleshooting to component-level.
- Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions.
- Lays out, builds, calibrates, adjusts, installs, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.
- Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
- Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems
- Interprets complex engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics, and understands the necessary interfaces
- Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions
- Identifies and helps prototype new preventative maintenance tasks
- Will be expected to lead, direct, and organize Technician work
- Works with associates in other departments and understands cross-functional relationships
- May be required to support the development of test specifications and procedures
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- An associate’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent is required, plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways
- Understands implications of their work and makes recommendations for improvements
- Ability to perform duties and tasks with minimal supervision required
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with internal and external team members, including customers
- Ability to use computers and software applications to assist in job execution, with special focus on Excel
- Mechanically inclined and able to maintain, repair, and install equipment that is part of a “live and operational” system
