STI is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide high-level guidance and technical oversight in support of submarine systems, particularly the Towed Array Handling System (TAHS). This role involves advising Engineering Technicians and participating in various engineering and logistical activities to ensure the operational performance of naval systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Guidance and Oversight for Engineering Technicians

  • Provide senior-level guidance and assistance to Engineering Technicians for all tasking as described in Sections 3.1 A-J.

Continuous Operational and Maintenance Assessment Support

  • Review and assess Technical Assistance Visit Reports (TAVR), Casualty Reports (CASREP), 2-Kilo reports, part usage, Time Attendance Reporting (TAR), Fleet Technical Support (FTS), Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA), and maintenance data.
  • Offer waterfront input and technical support for identifying, analyzing, and resolving out-of-commission (OOC) casualties and trends, including formulating actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Conduct maintenance and maintainability investigations, assessments, and generate reports to support SubCOMA, Reliability, Maintainability, Availability (RMA), Top Management Attention (TMA), and other Fleet/TYCOM activities or meetings.

Product Improvement Support

  • Attend towed systems improvement and working group meetings to provide engineering, maintainability, and logistics input.
  • Develop, review, and provide comments on engineering change proposals (ECP) documentation and drawings.

Fleet Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Configuration Management (CM) Support

  • Provide logistics and CM support during FTA and CASREP events to resolve fleet logistics issues.
  • Collaborate with SUBLANT Force personnel, NAVSEA ILS Managers, NAVSUP-WSS specialists, as well as Squadron and ship’s force Supply personnel to expedite and manage parts and materials for towed systems support.

NAVSEA ILS & Supply Support

  • Offer logistics support to PMS4011 Logistics Element Manager (LEM) for in-service handlers.
  • Provide waterfront ILS and supply support, including briefings and recommendations at towed systems Integrated Logistics Support Management Team (ILSMT) meetings.
  • Ensure maintenance planning, technical documentation, training, and supply support is well-coordinated and adequately supported.

NAVSEA Block Update/Engineering Change Installation (BUD/ECI)

  • Provide logistics support for BUD planning and implementation.
  • Review and comment on ECIs, TEMPALTs, and SHIPALTS for in-service handlers and arrays.
  • Support C5I meetings and ensure the latest updates are reflected in the Submarine Modernization Alteration Readiness Tracker (SMART).
  • Maintain installation data in SMART/Navy Data Environment (NDE).
  • Attend up to 4 C5I scheduling conferences and up to 2 ILSMTs as necessary.

Towed Systems Support & Test Equipment (S&TE) and Cable Support

Develop, review, and provide comments on engineering change proposals, data, documentation, and drawings for special S&TE.

Requirements

  • This position is subdivided into six disciplines: Combat Control, Weapons, Acoustic, Communication, Navigation, and Hull Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E). Candidates must possess qualifications in only one discipline, meeting the following requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Specialized Experience: Eight years of full-time engineering experience in:
  • Troubleshooting, operating, or maintaining equipment related to Submarine Combat Systems (e.g., fire control, weapons, acoustics, communications, navigation, or towed array handling systems like AN/BQQ-10, AN/BYG-1, AN/BLQ-10, OA-9060, OK-276); or
  • The planning, maintenance approach, installation, and removal of mechanical or electrical equipment components, foundations, cable runs, piping, and hydraulic systems.

General Experience: Ten years of full-time technical experience in an electrical/electronic field or HM&E field support.
