Job Purpose

The Material Management Department, is dedicated to addressing complex aviation material needs with precision. Organized into specialized units: Cabin, IFE, Airframe, Engines, Inventory Control, and Operations Support, along with dedicated teams for Rotable Components and Outstation support, we ensure timely availability of spares and components across the network.

Our core responsibilities include managing re-order levels, forecasting needs, inventory management and coordinating with Procurement for prompt deliveries based on our quality and safety standards. Providing 24/7 support for critical / AOG requirements and facilitating outstation operations through pooling and borrowing, our team is committed to operational excellence and cost-effectiveness.

About the Role:

Responsible for leading the Material Management and Supplier Support team, ensuring that it is a commercially astute and service orientated organisation which delivers the highest level of cost effective support to its internal customers. Develop strategies for engine, component and general aircraft spares and repair, such that EK is protected technically and commercially. Lead the introduction of new processes and technology to improve inventory/asset management and to streamline logistics activities. Support Procurement section strategy and direction for the business development of Component Repair capability of EK Engineering and suppliers in Dubai.

In this role, you will

  • Be responsible to ensure that the agreed material service level of more than 95 overall is delivered to the operational departments of Line Maintenance, Base Maintenance, Powerplant Shop, Workshops and Flight Simulators and that the forecasting and control of inventory is optimized to minimize spend and avoid unnecessary inventory growth. Lead activities and seek ways to ensure that inventory per hull declines as the fleet grows, including identification of surplus and obsolete material and its sale and disposal.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the means by which inventory is provisioned and distributed and champion new technologies to eliminate administration and waste.
  • Formulate strategy and direct the development of long term plans (5 - 10 years) for material management and supplier support for aircraft/cabin/engine and system spares, BFE and IFE.
  • Support Procurement section to hold suppliers accountable to their contractual deliverables and commitments in respect of material support (Supplier Support). Set priorities, vision and values and communicate plans/ targets to supplier stakeholders to gain their buy in. Influence/manage to overcome internal and external barriers to ensure deliverables are at the required level.
  • Along with the Procurement and Components repairs sections, establish and control the capital cost budget for spare engines, nacelles, component and tool/equipment assets, and direct maintenance cost budget relating to material consumption, power plant repairs, component repairs, logistics, material and supplier support manpower and facility.
  • Maintain a wide network of internal and external contacts, including aircraft / engine manufacturers, suppliers and other airlines in order to set up effective material support and supply chain arrangements.
  • Support Procurement section to ensure that material management and supplier support strategic objectives are properly addressed in aircraft, engine, BFE and repair contracts, specifically with respect to product support deliverables. Seek opportunities to leverage supplier performance by driving proactive monitoring of supplier compliance with Airbus GCP, Boeing PSAA and other product support agreements.
  • Set, communicate and monitor financial and qualitative performance indicators on a regular basis for Materials Management and Supplier performance to ensure that targets and goals are met consistently.
  • Implement a team structure that will deliver department plans. Develop the team as a progressive, proactive and responsive supply chain organization that generates income to achieve savings, process improvements and process redesign, for optimum performance and spares availability at Dubai and Emirates network.
Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
  • Degree in Engineering/ Supply Chain Management.
  • Engineering Experience in Materials and Stores 12+ years
  • Post Graduate Degree in Engineering / Supply Chain Management or Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence preferred.
  • Experience in Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance with significant experience at a management level in Material Management and Support Services.
  • Strong business acumen, leadership experience and strategic business initiatives.
  • Proven track record of leading change management and leading a team in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to introduce best practice inventory management techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Analytical thinking with problem-solving ability.
