Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Group Financial Accountant to join our team. You will be based at our Staverton site to support our continued success and ambitious growth plans.

The Position
The Group Financial Accountant role represents the opportunity to join Ontic’s Group Finance team and gain broad exposure across group financial accounting, tax, treasury and systems. This role offers valuable experience to a technically astute individual with experience of complex consolidations and IFRS technical accounting.
This role also offers the possibility to get involved in the more commercial aspects of finance, including providing insight on central costs and group performance, whilst working within a motivated and up-beat team.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the group’s month-end process and ensuring all activities completed across the group as required for a timely and accurate monthly close
- Maintaining the underlying financial records for the companies within the holding stack, ensuring that the Effective Interest Rate models for borrowings are appropriately updated
- Calculation of the required consolidation entries and entry into the Group’s consolidation system OneStream, ensuring all positions are fully reconciled and understood
- Reporting to investors monthly KPIs, debt & debt-like items and PF EBITDA forecast, liaising with FP&A to ensure alignment
- Assisting with running monthly actuals reviews and quarterly accounting reviews across the group, in addition to other cyclical and ad-hoc internal control reviews
- Partnering with central cost centre heads to manage spend, providing insight and reporting to understand and action variances
- Owning the central cost recharge process, ensuring that central department costs are appropriately recharged across the group
- Assisting with the running of the budget and annual/bi-annual reforecast process
- Supporting on aspects of corporate tax compliance and various UK & US projects by partnering with the Group Tax manager
- Acting as a key contact for external auditors, providing consolidation information and dealing with any queries
- Acting as a key user and owner of the Group’s consolidation reporting system OneStream
- Identifying process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Assist with ad-hoc projects & other requests
- Supporting the production of Ontic Group’s quarterly & annual reporting in line with lender requirements
- Supporting the quarterly refresh of the corporate accounting manual
- Supporting the production of statutory IFRS consolidated accounts and UK GAAP (FRS 101 & FRS 102) individual accounts for required entities in an accurate, compliant and timely manner
People:
- Partnering with group treasury and the site finance teams (controllers, accounting & FP&A), in addition to the broader business including legal, business development, PMO, IT and HR departments
- Working closely with the external audit and tax providers as required
Technical experience:
- Graduate qualified accountant with strong IFRS technical background (1-2 years post-qual preferred)
- Considerable experience owning the preparation or audit of consolidations
- Hands-on tax experience is an asset
- Adept at stakeholder management and communication (both written and verbal)
- Experience within / auditing private-equity backed businesses is desirable
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the commercial aspects of the business; experience of the Aerospace industry is desirable
