POSITION SUMMARY: The Avionics Manager oversees the Avionics department, ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of aircraft electronic systems. This includes tasks like managing technicians, developing maintenance programs, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This is a management-level position with several direct reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assumes responsibility for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of Avionics/Electrical Department functions
  • Manages, plans and coordinates all activities involving electrical harness fabrication, installation of harnesses, components and testing; oversees electrical fabrication and installation processes
  • In conjunction with other Operation Managers, develops short- and long-term goals and objectives; provides suggestions and recommendations
  • Develops Department policies and procedures and ensures that they support and complement Company-wide strategic objectives
  • Supervises and directs all assigned personnel, ensuring optimal performance. Manages personnel decisions in conjunction with HR including hiring, terminations, wage decisions, and promotions; Conducts performance appraisals as required; Formulates and implements employee corrective actions as needed.
  • Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies
  • Ensures that policies are updated and in accordance with evolving production and quality standards
  • Monitors and supervise quality, including inspection and testing of all products.
  • Identifies problems and resolves them quickly and effectively
  • Regulates workflow to ensure maximum production capacity
  • Monitors the floor production schedule to ensure that work is completed according to deadlines
  • Supervises the allocation and distribution of electrical and installation materials
  • Ensures that fabrication and installation functions are completed in accordance with established production, safety, and quality standards, and approved data
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management
  • Ensuring all maintenance activities adhere to FAA regulations, company policies, and manufacturer guidelines, while also promoting a culture of safety
  • Strives to develop better, faster, cheaper method
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6+ years of Avionics experience in Supervisor position or higher
  • 10+ years of Avionics Maintenance or Modification experience on commercial aircraft

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A&P License Strongly Preferred
  • 3+ years of wide-body commercial aircraft maintenance experience
  • Boeing 777 Genfam
  • Degree or certificate from an accredited 2-year college, university or technical school in avionics maintenance or electronics

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.

Requires full use of lower extremities and back muscles. Resting on knee or knees. Bending downward and forward at the leg and spine. Extending hand (s) and arm (s) in any direction. Standing extended time periods. Walking for long distances. Using upper body to press against something with steady force. Using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects. Use of upper body and back muscles to lift objects.

Medium work; exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL: Travel may occasionally be required for this position (15 or less).

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship. Must be able to pass a post offer DOT drug test upon hire.
