Silver Air is seeking a seasoned Director of Maintenance (DOM) to lead the strategic and operational management of aircraft maintenance across our fleet. The DOM ensures all maintenance activities meet FAA regulatory requirements, manufacturer standards, and Silver Air’s commitment to operational excellence, safety, and client service. This leadership role will manage maintenance personnel, vendors, and technical programs while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight of all aircraft maintenance programs under Part 135 and Part 91 operations.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, internal policies, and manufacturer maintenance programs.
- Supervise and support a team of Aircraft Maintenance Managers and Quality Assurance Inspectors.
- Coordinate closely with the Chief Inspector to maintain a compliant, well-documented inspection program.
- Oversee maintenance scheduling, inspection tracking, repairs, and airworthiness modifications.
- Align maintenance operations with flight schedules and owner expectations by partnering with Flight Ops, Safety, and Client Services.
- Manage AOG events and ensure timely return-to-service.
- Monitor vendor performance, ensuring adherence to contractual and quality standards.
- Oversee technical records, reliability programs, and maintenance tracking systems.
- Lead team development through coaching, hiring, training, and performance management.
- Participate in internal audits, safety meetings, and regulatory reviews.
- Serve as FAA liaison for all maintenance-related matters.

- 10 Aircraft Maintenance Managers (primarily Van Nuys-based)
- 1 Chief Inspector overseeing: 2 Quality Assurance team members
- 1 Aircraft Conformity Consultant
Cross-Functional Engagement:
- Oversees outsourced maintenance vendors and manages relationships and performance.
- Supports base operations in coordination with Aircraft Support, Base Management, and Crew Teams.
- Collaborates closely with executive leadership and reports directly to, EVP of Aircraft Management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, including at least 7+ years in a leadership role.
- Must hold a valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
- Prior experience with business jet maintenance under Part 135 required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive high performance.
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and QA/QC protocols.
- Experience working with modern aircraft maintenance tracking platforms (e.g., CAMP, FlightDocs).
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
