Description
JOB SUMMARY:
To layout, fabricate, install and/or modify sheet metal parts and assemblies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
- Performs a wide variety of operations to fabricate sheet metal parts and assemblies including layouts
according to templates, blueprints and specifications.
Forms sheet metal parts by hand or on power equipment over form block or pattern.
Assembles and mounts sheet metal parts or assemblies.
May build shop aids, jigs and fixtures for experimental projects.
Responsible only for own work.
Performs other related duties as required.
Lays out curves, angles and dimensions of parts using shop math and sheet metal fabrication practices
and fabricate templates according to specifications of blueprints.
Builds form block from wooden or plastic materials according to template, blueprints and specifications.
Uses shop math and measuring devices to layout angles and dimensions of work, takes curve
measurements from master layout accordingly and fabricates templates according to blueprints.
- Determines shape and specified tolerances of finished parts and forms sheet metal parts to obtain
desired shape and dimensions.
- Works from department schedules, simple blueprints, engineering orders, oral/written instructions and
related records to perform a variety of sheet metal operations to include complex sheet metal work.
- Assists leadership in meeting production schedules by scheduling workflow to meet production
schedules.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification. Uses fairly
complicated drawings, advanced shop mathematics, handbook formulas and a variety of precision measuring
instruments.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1 years of sheet metal fabrication experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Somewhat disagreeable working conditions with exposure to dust, noise, heat, fumes and liquids. Safety shoes
and protective clothing could be required.
