The Flight Crew Support Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting the efficient scheduling of flight crews, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company needs. You will provide direct oversight and guidance to a team of Flight Crew Support Specialists, contributing to the smooth operation of Avelo Airlines.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily activities of a team of Flight Crew Support Specialists.
- Build and maintain work schedules for Flight Crew Support Leads and Specialists, ensuring efficient workload distribution and team coverage.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to develop the team.
- Ensure the development, implementation, and maintenance of flight crew schedules that adhere to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Parts 117 and 121, and company policies.
- Analyze flight operations and crew duty times to ensure adherence to legal rest requirements (including Flight Duty Periods (FDPs) and minimum rest periods), and avoid scheduling conflicts.
- Monitor the progress of pilots through their training programs, including Operational Experience (OE), Consolidation of Knowledge (CKS), and Line Checks (LC). Utilize this information to ensure proper crew assignments and avoid scheduling conflicts that could impede a pilots progress.
- Address schedule changes and disruptions caused by weather, maintenance issues, or crew member absences. This may involve contacting reserve crew members, arranging logistics (transportation, accommodations), and ensuring timely communication with impacted crew members.
- Collaborate with dispatchers, operations personnel, and other departments to ensure smooth flight operations.
- Lead a daily morning flight crew staffing meeting. Gather and present information to report on any current or upcoming crew scheduling issues and answer questions about issues from the previous day.
- Participate in a daily morning operations meeting. Present information on crew scheduling and answer questions about any current or upcoming crew scheduling issues that may impact overall operations.
- Monitor crew scheduling software to ensure efficient crew assignments, track duty times, and maintain compliance with FAR regulations.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of crew schedules, duty times, and qualifications.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in crew scheduling.
- Manage timecards to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred or 2 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in airline operations or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of FAR Parts 117 and 121 regulations, including Flight Duty Periods (FDPs), rest requirements, and fatigue risk management principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays due to the nature of airline operations.
