Job Summary
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all cargo warehouse operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant handling, storage, and dispatch of cargo. This role ensures that service standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements (including IATA, Customs and Excise, local aviation authority regulations) are met, while maintaining productivity, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Your activities
- Plan, organize, and control all warehouse activities related to import, export, and transshipment cargo.
- Oversee cargo handling, storage, labelling, inventory control, and documentation in compliance with company policies and aviation regulations.
- Ensure that temperature-controlled and perishable cargo is stored within indicated time frame and according to set standards or as per customer’s instructions and/or company policies and procedure
- Monitor and ensure reefer temperature setting and calibrations are always accurate
- Implement and enforce procedures to prevent temperature deviations and spoilage
- Manage the loading and unloading of aircraft and trucks, ensuring adherence to timelines and cargo integrity.
- Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, customs, and ground operations to ensure smooth flow of goods.
- Ensure that all cargo is processed accurately in the warehouse management system
- Oversee receipt, verification, and documentation of cargo shipments.
- Ensure accurate cargo records, manifests, and airway bills are maintained.
- Manage bonded warehouse inventory and customs clearance procedures where applicable.
- Supervise and lead warehouse staff, including agents, leads, cargo handlers etc.
- Assign work schedules and ensure proper manpower allocation across shifts.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions where necessary.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and accountability.
- Enforce adherence to safety standards, including IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and occupational safety requirements.
- Ensure warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors) is maintained and inspected regularly.
- Maintain compliance with all customs, security, and airline cargo handling procedures.
- Conduct internal audits and participate in external regulatory inspections.
- Monitor operational KPIs (e.g., turnaround time, accuracy rate, safety incidents).
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and present weekly/monthly operational reports to management.
- Participate in budgeting and cost control efforts.
- Comply with the responsibilities detailed in the stations QHSE Management System Manual and the manuals under your responsibility and management, ensuring compliance with the requirements in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISAGO standards.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5–7 years of warehouse management or cargo handling experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of cargo handling procedures, warehouse management systems, and aviation regulations.
- Certification in Dangerous Goods Handling will be considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics software (e.g. Cargospot or similar).
